HCLTech and Google Cloud Partner to Unlock Business Value with Gemini

By Greg Tavarez

When Google first tried its hand at a generative AI tool (i.e. with Bard), I was personally not impressed. My team and I actually had a discussion about it and found the tool to be ineffective when compared to the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Fast-forward to what we have today: Gemini.

Gemini is definitely an upgrade from Bard. Although it is still under development, Gemini is trained on various data formats, including text, code and images, which allows it to understand and respond to complex prompts and questions.

Sure, it’s not the perfect tool but (compared to what Bard was) Gemini is a big improvement and can assist where needed.

With that said, one thing is certain: Generative AI tools are game changers for many industries. Tech giants see it and are forging alliances to stay ahead of the curve.

In a move poised to potentially impact many industries, HCLTech expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to leverage generative AI and propel business innovation across industries. This expanded partnership will allow Google's Gemini, a multimodal large language model (LLM), to develop industry-specific solutions and unlock new value for clients.

By upskilling 25,000 engineers on Google Cloud's GenAI tools, HCLTech will boost client support throughout the AI lifecycle. This includes crafting novel use cases and functionalities for HCLTech's platforms and products, with an initial emphasis on integrating GenAI capabilities for clients in manufacturing, healthcare and telecom.

“By enabling 25,000 engineers on Google Cloud’s latest generative AI technology, HCLTech can provide the expertise and technical skills that clients need to successfully deploy and manage generative AI projects at scale,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.

HCLTech recently launched HCLTech AI Force, a pre-built GenAI platform streamlining the engineering lifecycle from planning to deployment. By integrating Gemini's advanced code completion and summarization features, HCLTech AI Force allows engineers to generate code, troubleshoot issues and expedite software project delivery and quality for clients.

Additionally, HCLTech will use Gemini to strengthen and expand the solution portfolio developed by its dedicated Cloud Native Labs and AI Labs, which are staffed with AI experts and engineers that focus on accelerating client innovation. Through this collaboration, both labs will equip clients to effectively plan, manage and refine GenAI projects on Google Cloud's infrastructure.

“This collaboration will bring to market HCLTech’s innovative GenAI solutions using Google’s most capable and scalable Gemini models,” said C Vijayakumar, CEO and managing director, HCLTech. “We believe this helps us to bring even more value to global enterprises through HCLTech’s differentiated portfolio.”
