SmartBear's HaloAI Automates Testing for Faster Development

By Greg Tavarez

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 40 million technical positions sit vacant nationwide, and this number is projected to surge to a critical 85.2 million by 2030. This dearth of qualified workers creates a major hurdle for businesses seeking to innovate and compete in an increasingly digital world.

Look at it this way.

Companies will struggle to fill development and testing roles and may experience delays in launching new products or features. Furthermore, a lack of skilled cybersecurity professionals could leave businesses vulnerable to cyberattacks.

SmartBear, an innovator in software development embracing AI’s transformative potential, looks to smash those challenges with SmartBear HaloAI, trusted AI-driven technology deploying across its entire product portfolio.

HaloAI uses generative AI to solve practical software development challenges. It automates repetitive and error-prone testing tasks that are traditionally complex and time-consuming.

Unlike basic coding assistants, HaloAI prioritizes transparency and builds trust with users. It streamlines development processes, boosts team efficiency and develops innovative business results. By automating these tasks, HaloAI helps address current and anticipated shortages in skilled development and testing professionals.

“HaloAI isn’t just AI; it’s a catalyst for smarter work,” said Frank Roe, CEO of SmartBear. “With this cutting-edge AI technology, we're not just enhancing the development experience and making life easier for teams; we're transforming it, amplifying creative and strategic abilities and enabling our customers to stay ahead in an ever-evolving tech landscape.”

Early results from HaloAI's beta program seem promising. In just two weeks, more than 1,200 testers using HaloAI with SmartBear's Zephyr Scale platform reduced testing times by automating tasks. This eliminated the need to write and debug manual test scripts, a previously time-consuming process.

For example, a quality assurance team automated half of their five-minute manual tests and managed to reduce testing time to just five seconds per test during a regression cycle. This translates to a time savings of 20 hours per cycle.

SmartBear's HaloAI is a step forward in their ongoing commitment to AI within software development. Last year, they introduced AI-powered automated regression testing and further solidified its leadership in AI-powered testing by acquiring Reflect, an advanced AI provider, earlier this year. HaloAI unifies these past innovations under a single banner.
