A Leap in Operational Success: Mavenir, NVIDIA and AWS Showcase Strong AI/Ops Potential

By Alex Passett

Happy Tuesday, GenAI readers.

Chances are you’ve heard of NVIDIA and Amazon Web Services (AWS) before, which is anything but a surprise, really. In terms of enterprise-sized leaps towards full-scale modernization, having heard of NVIDIA and AWS is like being aware of the internet, in this day and age; it’s obvious. And though I happen to cover more news over on IoT Evolution World most days, I can still say with great confidence here on GenAI Today that teaming up with either (or both) of these giant corporations – especially when said team-up involves generative AI – is a home-run-slam-dunk-insert-your-sports-victory-analogy-here type of move.

And that’s precisely what Mavenir has been up to.

Let’s break this down.

Mavenir is transforming how the world connects; that seems to be their M.O., and Mavenir’s teams realize transformative solutions via its end-to-end, cloud-native, green-by-design solutions powered by AI. By empowering operators to achieve intelligent, automated, programmable networks, Mavenir delivers on a global scale, having currently accelerated the network transformations of more than 300 communications service providers (CSPs) in 120+ countries. Learn more about its network automation, 5G signaling, network-as-a-hosted-service (NaaHS) offerings, private networking solutions and more here.

This brings us back to the news; Mavenir teamed up with NVIDIA and AWS.

Here’s a great excerpt from the official announcement: “Mavenir has pioneered a breakthrough Operations Co-Pilot that harnesses the power of GenAI to improve service-level agreements (SLAs) and optimize operational efficiency for CSPs.” Made possible by its involvement with NVIDIA and AWS, Mavenir seeks to showcase the potential of GenAI to, quote, “effectively define” a Service Assurance AI/Ops Platform, leading to lesser burdens on maintenance and support teams while also enhancing their abilities to meet modern SLAs.

More technical details follow:

Mavenir’s Operations Co-Pilot for RAN Service Assurance (RSA) automates network troubleshooting, enabling MNOs to, quote, “rapidly and accurately anticipate network issues and address detected impairments” long before they hit critical status. Utilizing GenAI (with LLMs trained on detailed KPIs, counters, logs and traces from network infrastructure) Mavenir, NVIDIA and AWS’s suite of Operations Co-Pilot-led solutions are poised to transform how telecom networks operate through intelligent automation. This new framework is built on NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform for GenAI, it runs on AWS, and it leverages Mavenir’s own Open RAN architecture to provide greater open interface accessibility that “can deliver the data needed to train and optimize domain-specific telecom LLMs.”

That’s a lot to chew on, to be sure.

Here are a couple of helpful quotes from Mavenir and NVIDIA:

“Our new Operations Co-Pilot framework has the potential to be a game-changer for operators, delivering a wealth of fault prediction and root cause analysis capabilities with AI-powered accuracy and speed,” explained Bejoy Pankajakshan, Mavenir’s Chief Technology and Strategy Officer. “his industry-first solution is built on the transformative foundation of NVIDIA GPUs operating on AWS and enabled by Mavenir data, which can be accessed via numerous interfaces in the Open RAN and in the Packet Core for complete end-to-end visibility.”

Chris Penrose, Global Head of Business Development for Telco at NVIDIA, also commented. “In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, generative AI is a force multiplier for enterprises everywhere,” Penrose stated. “Mavenir’s framework, built on the NVIDIA AI Enterprise platform for streamlining the development and deployment of AI, will unlock a new level of operational efficiency for communications service providers.”
