AI Takes a Seat at the Table: Realbotix's Robot Joins Board

By Greg Tavarez

When we hear or see anything about a board of directors, we often imagine a group of people sitting in a room discussing critical organizational matters. And when I say people, I mean actual human beings. The thought of anything else being part of a board is... bizarre.

Nevertheless, there are companies out there with a goal to transcend “the barrier between man and machine.” One such company is Realbotix, which creates customizable, full-bodied, human-like robots with AI integration that improve the human experience through learning, connection and play. Realbotix wants to create robots and AI that are indistinguishable from humans in appearance and social interaction.

And Realbotix, well... they’ve recently done something that falls in that category of what I used to think of as bizarre and unheard of:

Realbotix appointed Aria, its AI robot, as an advisor to its board of directors.

Aria uses a proprietary large language model that leverages various open source LLM engines. As a result, Realbotix’s AI has the ability to process a wide breadth of information objectively and is not limited by biases related to things such as race, gender or political views.

This enables the AI to have all the benefits of other open source networks; with Realbotix's unfiltered, an adult-focused conversational style layered on top. Management reportedly views this as "the next level of interaction between humans and AI" to support real world situations in real-time in the C-Suite.

Following "her" acceptance as advisor, Aria will contribute to strategic views on decisions affecting operations. "She" will use her AI-driven insights to offer fresh perspectives on market trends, product development and customer engagement.

"AI’s ability to make unbiased recommendations backed by billions of data points makes it a highly valuable addition to a board,” said Andrew Kiguel, CEO of Realbotix. “We appointed Aria as an advisor to our board to further drive efficient, smart decision making. This marks a significant advancement globally, in the use of AI, and we expect to see other boards follow suit in the years to come.”

Realbotix is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with robotics and AI, and Aria's addition as an advisor is a testament to this commitment.
