GenAI is Shaping the Future of Unified Communications: See How at Generative AI Expo 2025

By Greg Tavarez

Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) solutions have changed the way businesses operate, yet they don't always get the spotlight they deserve. UCaaS combines various communication tools — voice, video, messaging and collaboration — into a single, cloud-based platform. I like to think of it as the Swiss Army knife of business communication, designed to keep everyone connected no matter where they are.

Unlike traditional on-premise systems that require costly hardware and constant maintenance, UCaaS is hosted in the cloud; this means businesses can scale up or down as needed without breaking the bank. This is a game-changer for smaller companies or startups that can’t afford to invest heavily in infrastructure. Plus, the ability to access the system from anywhere with an internet connection aligns perfectly with today’s demand for mobility and work-life balance.

But let’s be real, readers. UCaaS isn’t without its challenges.

The reliance on internet connectivity means that if your network is shaky, so is your communication. Security is another hot topic; while most providers offer solid encryption and compliance, some industries (looking at you, healthcare and finance) need to dig deep to ensure their provider meets regulatory requirements.

With that said, the benefits typically outweigh these concerns, especially as technology improves and providers continue to innovate. Speaking of improved technology and innovation, what capabilities will UCaaS have if generative AI is incorporated into it?

To have that answered, you would need to attend Generative AI Expo 2025, taking place February 11-13 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the expo, there is a session titled “Implementing Gen AI in UCaaS: Real-World Strategies and Success Stories,” set for 10:00-10:45 AM on Wednesday, February 12.

The panel will feature Brian Alexander, of counsel, Marashlian & Donahue, The CommLaw Group; Jody Gonzales, CTO, UponAI; Tony Lewis, CEO, Clearly IP; Bill Miller as moderator, CEO and owner, Beelinebill Enterprises.

The panel will look into how GenAI is transforming UCaaS and explore the real-world applications driving this shift. They will showcase successful AI implementations with live demos to reveal how AI revolutionizes workflows and enhances user experiences.

The panel will also explore the potential of GenAI agents and demonstrate their impact on collaboration and operational efficiency. Lastly, they will cover the latest 2025 regulatory updates that every business needs to know to ensure that attendees are prepared for the evolving compliance landscape in VoIP, UCaaS and AI.

Register for Generative AI Expo 2025 and see how the technology is impacting UCaaS today.
