Netskope and OpenAI Address AI-Related Compliance Challenges

By Greg Tavarez

Netskope recently found a threefold increase in GenAI application usage within organizations compared to the previous year. Sure, there is indeed a surge in adoption (coupled with a doubling of average activity per user). However, this also brings about an urgent need for organizations to re-examine their data protection strategies.

As employees increasingly utilize tools like ChatGPT Enterprise for work, it is important to ensure compliance with data regulations, prevent sensitive information leaks and promote secure AI usage. Organizations must strike a delicate balance between fostering innovation and safeguarding their data. This requires data loss prevention measures, comprehensive AI governance policies and employee training to mitigate risks and maximize the benefits of GenAI.

Speaking of which, Netskope recently announced an integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise Compliance API to deliver API-enabled controls that strengthens security and compliance for enterprise organizations using GenAI applications. Through this integration with the ChatGPT Enterprise, the Netskope One platform provides organizations with enhanced security features including application visibility, improved policy enforcement, advanced data security and comprehensive security posture management.

Here’s how:

Netskope's integration with ChatGPT Enterprise allows organizations to strengthen their data security posture. By providing access to 50+ compliance templates and 3,000-plus data identifiers, Netskope helps customers adhere to stringent regulations like GDPR, HIPAA and GLBA. Advanced data loss prevention capabilities (including machine learning and optical character recognition) enable proactive identification and protection of sensitive data, such as PII and intellectual property.

Furthermore, Netskope's integration enhances threat protection through advanced machine learning models for malware detection, complementing traditional security measures. This comprehensive approach empowers organizations to safeguard their data while leveraging the benefits of GenAI.

"By integrating the Netskope One platform into OpenAI's advanced capabilities in ChatGPT Enterprise, Netskope continues to lead in providing comprehensive security solutions for enterprises adopting GenAI tools," said Andy Horwitz, Senior Vice President, Global Partner Ecosystem, Netskope. "This integration reinforces our commitment to empowering organizations with the tools they need to help manage sensitive data and support compliance as AI adoption continues to accelerate."

The integration of security measures, like those offered by Netskope and ChatGPT Enterprise or even Forcepoint’s GenAI Security solution that offers visibility, control and risk-based data protection across GenAI platforms, including integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise Compliance API, signifies a turning point for the GenAI industry. As AI continues to permeate businesses, the emphasis on data protection and compliance will only intensify.
