Generative AI Security 101: Essential Strategies for Protecting Data

By Greg Tavarez

Generative AI is the new frontier of tech with endless possibilities. It’s a place where machines dream up art, write poetry, and even code software. But with great power also comes great responsibility in this case, great risk. As AI systems grow more sophisticated, so too do the threats to our data privacy and security. it's a simple fact.

Think of situations, for example, where AI crafts hyper-realistic deepfakes, fooling even the sharpest eyes. Or one where a malicious actor could, in theory, exploit a vulnerability in an AI system to steal loads of sensitive information. It's a scary thought, but it's a reality we must confront.

The stakes are high. Data breaches can cost companies millions ($4.88 million for the global average cost of a data breach in 2024, according to IBM), and the erosion of trust can be even more damaging. That's why it's crucial to understand the risks and take proactive steps to protect our data.

And there is an opportunity for that at Generative AI Expo 2025, taking place February 11-13, 2025, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During a session titled "Data Privacy and Security in Generative AI," the panel will look at the shadowy corners of the AI world and explore the latest threats and the best defenses.

Attendees will learn how to keep their AI endeavors on the right side of the law, build strong, impenetrable fortresses around their data, spot and squash vulnerabilities before they strike, and build trust with customers to become a responsible steward of their data.

Don't let your AI dreams turn into a nightmare. At Generative AI Expo 2025, learn how to use AI while keeping your data safe and sound.

Also, Generative AI Expo is a chance for attendees to discuss the evolution of GenAI as well as the potential for GenAI across industries and how the technology is already being used to create new opportunities for businesses to improve operations, enhance customer experiences and create new growth opportunities.
